Post by Derek »

Alex gave us permission to post about his latest 64bit beta version of MBM. Yes! 64Bit  Sweet, eh? I'll let him do the rest of the talking:

Ignore any version numbers you might see in MBM, only those shown in the system info tab are correct.

This version of MBM is my working build and besides a few small changes the most important thing is a new IO DLL & SYS.

The new SYS driver was needed to handle Windows 64bit.
The new DLL driver was needed to handle the new SYS driver.

Once you install this build of MBM the only way to go back to a previous build is to force MBM to install the old IO driver.

There is no need to uninstall MBM when going up or down a version. It is even better to no uninstall when updating.

So what should you look out for when installing this new build of MBM, it all depends on the system your running.

Windows NT/2000/XP on Intel 32bit or AMD 32bit

The installer should tell you that the new IO driver is needed, select the default settings or if you know from previous experiance use another lvl for the driver. Finish the install, agree to the reboot and after the reboot MBM should work as normal.

mbmiodrvr.sys (located in your system32) should be version 32.0.0.1 (check by right clicking on it and select properties)

Windows NT/2000/XP on Intel 32bit or ADM 64bit

The installer should tell you that the new IO driver is needed, select the default settings or if you know from previous experiance use another lvl for the driver. Finish the install, agree to the reboot and after the reboot MBM should work as normal.

mbmiodrvr.sys (located in your system32) should be version 32.0.0.1 (check by right clicking on it and select properties)

Windows XP 64bit/Server 2003 64Bit on ADM 64bit

The installer should tell you that the new IO driver is needed, select the default settings or if you know from previous experiance use another lvl for the driver. Finish the install, agree to the reboot and after the reboot MBM should work as normal.

mbmiodrvr.sys (located in your syswow64 & system32) should be version 64.0.0.1 (check by right clicking on it and select properties)

What if you have problems:

- reinstall again and DO REBOOT
- find the mbmiodrvr.sys and write down the version number
- find the mbmiodrvr.sys and write down it's path
- open the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\mbmiodrvr, write down the values for Version & Image path
- write down what OS your running and what type of CPU and please remember, running a none windows 64bit on a 64bit system does not mean you have a 64 bit OS.
- all what you wrote down you can then post here: http://www.livewiredev.com/bbs/showthre ... eadid=6345

What if it works:

tell me at: http://www.livewiredev.com/bbs/showthre ... eadid=6345 and remember to include your OS / CPU details

Straight from horse's mouth! Now remember, the point of a beta release is not to make us happy, but for the author to gain valuable information from the end-user in order to fix bugs and make the program better. So take this release seriously (especially those of you with 64bit systems) and post your results as he requested, here  http://www.livewiredev.com/bbs/showthre ... eadid=6345

Having said that, your "l33t" points get a +10 'cause you're running a beta version baby!
