Also...

Check all the connectors on the 7000, some might not be making full contact.

What's in your PCI 1 slot? Could be conflicting with the 7000. Try emptying out PCI #1 and see if that helps.

Awesome job, BCN!

Just as a FYI, you have "System BIOS Cacheable," "Video BIOS Cacheable" and "Video RAM Cacheable" set to enabled in the chipset section of your BIOS. It's better to set those to DISABLED as those are vestigial remnants from the old days and you get no performance boost. All that having those setting...

Hmm, almost sounds like your BIOS was being cached with the "System BIOS Cacheable" enabled in the Chipset section. From what I've heard (was long ago), if the cache was enabled while trying to flash, the flash utility will write the first bit to the cache in RAM, and then the rest to the BIOS itsel...

Hold down the INSERT key and turn on the power, that will boot with BIOS defaults. If that fails, try shorting the CMOS discharge jumper (should reset BIOS to default settings). It's the one labelled CMOS just below the bottom fan header (where the speaker and reset button headers are at the bottom ...

Heh, I never use my desktop, as it's always covered with apps. I don't use desktop icons to access anything (or even the start menu, I actually removed the Start button :P ). Everything is accessable from an app I use called True Launch Bar. Gives me complete control and customizability over drop do...

120GB works fine for me...

I'm using a 120GB Maxtor 7200 rpm (2MB Cache) as my C: and D: drives (partitioned), on ATA33. I can't remember the model number, sorry. :( It installed fine, BIOS recognized it right away and Win98 and XP installed fine as a dual boot. It plays nice with 2 other HDDS and a burner (all on ATA33). No ...

"shark30" was the first admin password I ever used (was already in place) when updating about 200 stations across 12 retail stores from NT3.51 to NT4. I changed it to "0shark" (and then to a more sensible string of incomprehensible numbers and letters, shortly afterwards, once the "cool" factor of h...

Do both of those holes hit the same lead on the back?

I have an ATI 8500LE (Retail) in the AGP slot and a Voodoo3 3500 in PCI 2. Neither are overclocked. They run fine. I also had a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 for a total of 3 vid cards up until about 3 months ago, when it wouldn't initialize for some reason. I'm now "making do" with two monitors :P

ATAPI devices aren't detected in the BIOS and setting the spot where your CDROM is to NONE is usually fine (Windows detects them fine). Try setting the Primary Master to AUTO and BIOS will detect it just after POST (you'll actually see the statement "Detecting Primary Master..." And then it will lis...

This is a long shot but try going into the BIOS, under Integrated Peripherals and switching from

Init Display First: AGP
to
Init Display First: PCI

That's all I can think of.

Reminds me of Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash." In the book, the Mafia controls pizza delivery and the main guy starts out as a pizza-delivery guy, called "The Deliverator." He drives a super fast pizza-delivery-sports-car with special slots built into it for the pizza to be put into. :D
