Only thing is its still too easy to crack. Out of box install cracked in about 45 minutes. The same tools for cracking win2k can be used on 2003. If its SQL server just run a SQL push and bang. If its IIS6 just runs neesis or canvas and your in. I'll stick with my Linux boxes for really important st...

This is a subject I deal with on an almost daily basis. I run Mandrake on my dual boot laptop with XP. I also teach Cisco, A+, and Net+ classes as an adjunct at the local tech school. Since its my class, I run linux for my powerpoints and everything. Sooner or later someone will ask "What kind of wi...

I just got through building my son a new AMD single system and I have inherited his BPer. I see that the folks here are running them at 1...

Slack 9.1 Flies on my BP'er

All I have to say is WOW!!!! After running the rpm based distros for over a year, I can see why everyone loves Slackware and Gentoo so much. After recompiling a fresh install of 9.1 to enable smp, That box just flies. I run Fluxbox and it is really impressive. I have a Tyan 230T with dual gigs that ...

I am running slack on one bp6 and a cut down version of Mandrake on another as a web server for http://www.pdr60.net my site. and about 12 others. I have to admit I wish I had built the web box with slack but at the time I was r...

It is an Interesting topic, as I just went through such a failure. I had an ECS D6VAA that started having problems. At the time it was dual booting Win2k and linux. The Linux would not boot but the Windoze would. I tried reinstalling but it would lock up. I did the old pull each card until it works ...

I bought the BP6 when it was first released. And It ran great for a long time. Then it started having read/write failures and problems booting. I thought; Well sh&% there goes a hard drive. I ordered a new hd and tried a fresh install. After about 4-5 failures in an evening and never completing a wi...

Mandrake 9.0

As most everyone knows MDK9.0 came out 0n 9-25. I managed to get it downloaded and installed without any problems. Been running it since 9-26. My first impressions are that this is a very complete and polished release. Having installed it on a dual gig system and a single cpu box I can say both went...

I am also running 8.2 and I have a working usb. As far as the APM goes... I never shut mine down so its not an issue. But the fact that it doesn't work in smp is interesting. I never use it though so I guess its not a problem.

KDE 3.0.2 Rocks

I just updated from 2.2.2 to 3.0.2. Look is awesome. Seems to be a little faster and more stable. I sure like the way Winex runs under it. Load times are much faster. Would it be possible to have a catagory for just general smp Mother boards and our config/problems and solutions. Not that the BP6 is a bad board but we may generate more traffic as a clearing house for general daul processor issues. I don't want us to become another www.2cpu.com but we could get al...
