tomatoeboy, You can skip the multiplier setup -AS IT IS LOCKED INSIDE THE CPU AND NOT ALTERED BY THE BIOS SETUP. Cheers, RRLedford. I never knew that. I knew that it wasn't possible to actually change the multiplier but wasn't aware that you didn't have to make sure the board knew what it was. Kind...

Saw this sort of problem a few times on the old message board. In general I believe that the conclusion was that the power traces had gone to that CPU & there wasn't really a lot you could do about it. Upgrades to anything higher than the 533 involve a powerleap adapter as seen in many posts on this...

Just to clarify, I assume you were just changing the CPU type menu in the bios, eg you tried to tell it that you had 2 600MHz cpu's instead of 2 533's. This won't work, to overclock you must set the CPU type to "User Defined", set the CPU multiplier to the right setting (for you its 8) then you can ...

Windows 98 won't recognise both your CPU's so don't use it. Windows 2000 & XP are pretty similar in function, XP is just looks a little prettier. It's personal choice between those 2, I used XP & have gone back to 2000 because I prefer it. I've only been using linux for a little while & it works wel...

I think that it would be generally agreed that you are best off upgrading your BIOS to the RU final standard. You can find this on the bp6.com homepage http://bp6.gamesquad.net/bios.phtml If you glance down at the bottom of that page you'll find a link as to how to flash your BIOS. Check that out & ...

No worries PDR60, I decided to give the whole compilation route a go and as part of the process have already installed OpenOffice & Mozilla and the majority of KDE 3.0.3 from source. There weren't any problems logging in as it just overwrote the existing version of KDE. Now if I were an utter contro...

Wow, guys, I'm absolutely overwhelmed. Seem no-one really cares whether they lose control of their computers then. Its this sort of apathetic attitude that mean the big media companies can continue to "protect" their incomes without bothering to put any effort into new ways to attract customers. No ...

So what do you think guys? I don't really know an awful lot about this but it looks as though its gonna be one of those things that just get phased in without us noticing & before you know it people are looking back to the good ole' days when you could do what you wanted with your computer. Anyone k...

You definately need to do as InactiveX says for it to work with Win2k. As for linux though, I've never been able to get it to auto power down & even posted a thread in the linux forum http://www.bp6.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=105 I think the answer was that unless you're up for some messing with the ...

I am assuming you are keeping the 466's and not thinking of getting any new processors. To overclock smoothly all you need to do is: hold down "del" after turning on your computer enter the "CPU Softmenu II" screen change cpu type to "User Defined" Change multiplier to "7" Change "Speed Error Hold" ...

Using the same WU's for linux & win2k
Anyone know if there's a problem with using the same WU with both the linux & windows clients? The reason I ask is because I dual-boot win2k & mandrake 8.2 I'd like to do WU's when using both. I don't always use linux as much as I'd like to, so I want to work on the same units as I do when using win...

Ntldr is the small program that tells your computer how to load win2k. If it can't be found then it is likely that your computer is set up to boot from a different drive. First off, if you are really desperate to get your computer working then unplug the HD you've got win2k installed on from the hig...
