I have dual 533 Celerons running at 100% load in my BP6 right now, even though it's only using one CPU. The unused one is at 29 C and the one with 100% load is at 33 C.
How high can 533's be run safely for temps?

Okay, it's definitely not using both processors. I downloaded folding@home from Stanford, and watched the results. CPU 0 temp rose by 4 degrees once it had a steady 100% load on it, and CPU 1 never moved. They were staying at 28-29 C with no load, and CPU 0 rose to 33 with a steady 100% load. Is the...

Task Manager & MBM 5.3.7 not showing 2 CPU graphs.
I just got my BP6 back from an Abit RMA, and I have 2 533 Celerons in it. I started up the computer with each processor in each socket individually, so I know they both work. But in task manager, it shows only 1 CPU graph, even though I have the option checked to show one graph per CPU. And in Mothe...

I had gotten an email from Abit 2 nights ago about a package being ready to go to UPS for me, so I called yesterday and asked what it was. They said my BP6 needed capacitors, so they sent it to their repair place and sent me another BP6 that had already been fixed and should have an RU BIOS revision...

Quality of Abit RMA service?
I called Abit today to send in my BP6 for repairs. Or replacement if they have another BP6 in stock. They said they had very few on hand. Anyone had any experiences with them? Were they fast, was the new board good, etc.? During the phone call, I found out that my BP6 V. 1.0 was one of the first one...

BP6 quit POSTing!
Well, I finally got this BP6 up and running on Windows 2000 today, and I installed a variety of antivirus software and a Sygate firewall. Today the computer got restarted about 12-15 times. Everything's fine, so it was almost time to load up folding@home and put it to work. According to motherboard ...

I got the BP6 working with a multi-step process. When the 3 GB drive seemed to quit on me, I went to a local computer shop and got a Seagate 6 GB drive for $10. While I was there, I was talking to the hardware expert (about 20 a year old kid), and he told me that loading 2000 on my NF7 system and th...

No, when using the Knoppix 3.6 CD I had the CD on IDE 1 and the hard drive on IDE 2. Where should they be, and set as master / slave? I had the BIOS boot sequence set to CDROM, C, and something else I don't remember at the moment. It'll work on Knoppix 3.6, but I really don't like it, and besides th...

I got the BP6 running, although definitely the hard way. I connected the hard drive as a slave, and started up the computer on a bootable CD of Knoppix 3.6. It's running on 1 466 Celeron right now, with a 128 MB memory stick. A little slow, but it works. The tall caps around the CPUs are a green/blu...

Now that stupid 3 GB drive won't work at all. I came real close to smashing it with a hammer for revenge. I may still do that. I went to a computer repair store and picked up a 6 GB Seagate drive for $10. But I can't get ANY of my operating systems to install on it. Every time I try to boot it off t...

The damn thing won't work. I did a quick reformat of the hard drive using my XP Home CD, then put in my 98 CD to start it up on 98, and then it would be upgraded to 2000. This proceedure has worked several times for me. But with the CD set as primary IDE it won't load the 98 CD to the hard drive, an...

Well, I'll try that. Damn, I had it all set up and tuned, too. I wonder if I can do a repair install and get away with that? Probably not with my luck. I have the computer running right now, but with no speakers or monitor or ethernet cable or keyboard / mouse connected to the MB. It goes about 30 s...

Trouble starting up new BP6
I just got a BP6, version 1.0 . I looked at the capacitors very carefully, and they seem to be in good shape. But it doesn't quite boot up right. I have it running on 1 Celeron 466 right now. No internet line is hooked up yet. I already had a 3 GB hard drive loaded with 2000 Pro and some Abit driver...

I forgot to mention XP Home. From what I've read XP Home won't support dual CPU's either. In Knoppix 3.6 the Linux kernel is 2.4.27. By not bogging the system down, what I mean is that I've heard that XP uses a lot of system resources. Since I only plan to run 128 or 256 MB of memory to keep costs d...

OS's that support twin CPUs
From what I've been able to find here, it seems like Windows XP Pro, NT, and 2000 support dual CPU's, but 95, 98, 98SE, and ME do not. Do all versions of Linux support dual CPUs? How about Knoppix 3.6? I have access to Knoppix 3.6, 98, XP Home, and XP Pro right now. I wanted to get a copy of 2000, b...

What do the 300's have, a 4.5 multiplier? Even at 110 FSB that's only 495 Mhz. From what I've read here, since the processors will be used for folding, which is all heavy mathematical calculations, I'd be better off starting with 500 or 533 processors, then overclocking those as much as possible. Ye...

I just bought a BP6 on eBay for $52. It has a pair of 300 Celerons with it, but I'm looking for a couple of 533's with identical stepping codes ( SL3FZ ) and PPGA sockets according to the Intel website. There's a computer show in town this weekend, but I'm not sure I'd find 2 of the same kind. I'm t...
