Wolfram, I have (3) BP6 systems all runnibg WinXP-Pro. They all have Promise ATA100 cards in them. After many disk crashes & corruptions, I started to lose faith in the HPT366. When I did a CPU upgrade to Cele2 1.1GHz, the system would blue screen in 1-5Min with the Hdisk running from the HPT366. A...

Re: How to make Windows Update work after installed SP3/Win2
I didn't notice SP3 have such functions. and now it seems windows update doesn't work now. it always shows 00% when Check for updates.. Is there a way to re-enable Windows Update? ? Hi emton, do you mean Windows Update doesn´t work after installing SP3 or after disabling wuauclt.exe? Btw, on my sys...

Hi HAL, remember when the 9000 unit told Bowman that everything was fine? :))) SCNR. Thanks for that interesting information. I would have expected that they sent that information anyway, regardless if you´ve turned on that autoupdate feature or not. For me, I just noticed that Derek quoted some int...

The Samuel2 had a Level2 cache, too (64kb) http://www.anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1396&p=3 but the poor design ruined its performance http://www.anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1396&p=13 That´s why I assumed the Ezra might be slower than the reviews suggested. One of the attractions of the Via...

AFAIK this type of BSODs indicate a driver issue, like you mentioned before. So it seemed to be your USB 2.0 card, not WinXP. I have had these BSOD under Win2000 with certain graphics card drivers for my current Matrox G400 and for my former GF2MX. Beta drivers. I have no experience with XP. But I c...

Adaptec AHA1542B seems to cause trouble
...installed one to temporarily replace the Scanner SCSI card. Windows 2000 hung on boot (AHA1542B default jumper settings, IRQ11). Did not do any further research about it, but since this never happened before on installing a new component (regardless if ISA or PCI), I suspect this might be a probl...

Re: BP6 at 133Mhz FSB, no 1/2 AGP divider Via CPU 1GHz@133M
How feasible is it to run a BP6 running at 133Mhz FSB? I have PC133 RAM, and am considering upgrade to a Via C3 CPU, which is fast, and come in 2 flavours 100Mhz FSB and 133Mhz. Only uni-processor operation I'm afraid, but for most things single fast CPU, will be much quicker than my 2x450@100Mhz F...

I did _not_ disable the Windows File Protection, just let Windows show me all files/folders (in the folder options), my default setting. After installing SP3 and rebooting I just picked the copies of wuauclt.exe and renamed them in the given order (just in case I might need it someday). Did this the...

Well, that _is_ a short time. Try http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/229/ to make the system hang instead of rebooting on the BSOD, maybe that´ll help.

http://www.network-secure.de/System_wuauclt_Deaktivierung_010802.php3 Here it is. For those who don´t understand German: Rename all copies of wuauclt.exe, first in the dll-Cache, then in the system32 folder, then in the service pack folder. After that, Windows demands the SP3 CD to restore the file....

Driver version is 5.0.2195.1- by Microsoft, claims the device manager. But IIRC I installed it from an Abit floppy that says "Hot Rod 66 Driver 1.20". I got this floppy with the board when I boght it- 2nd hand. So maybe it´s not a driver delivered with the board, but from another source (ie that Hot...

What´s so bad about the HPT366 anyway? I know a lot of people seem to have trouble with it, but if you get your system up and running on it- is there a reason to use the other onboard IDE instead? Stabilitly? I have my W2K running from a Fujitsu 40 GB 7.200 rpm attached to the HPT366 and everything ...

Re: Dual 300A at 558
Any suggestions - I'm pretty sure the CPUs aren't what's stopping the system getting to 558, because they barely even get hot and run at 495 (110 x 4.5) at 2.05V. Memory is all rated at PC133, and I'm pretty sure AGP is fine. :P :P The CPUs _can_ be the limiting factor. Usually, 600 Mhz is the limi...

Evil MS- Windows 2000 SP3 phoning home?
Hi,
has anyone detected if and how Windows 2000 sends the information quoted on the bp6.com news-page to Microsoft?
And, of course... how to disable that
Wolfram
PS: Just installed some basic packet-filter-trash (aka ZoneAlarm) to feel better for now

Thanks! I have MBM 5.1.9.1 installed and first it did not show the sensor types you mentioned but "LM 75" and "LM 78" types. Now it changed to "Winbond", but _I_ didn´t change anything in the settings. The sensors seem to work now, but the alarm function does not. I can´t even check the checkbox tha...

When I clock my 433's to 533 I have to bump the core to 2.2V to be even slightly stable & that has taken my temps up to 55ºC Just saw that you use 433´s... I don´t think it´s worth overclocking them to 533 (82 FSB, right?). This means 41 Mhz PCI clock- there are quite many components that don´t lik...

Well, the temps _were_ significantly lower with the original 6cm-fans, they are (IIRC) _at_least_ 5°C lower with the 5cm-Papsts @12V. I think it depends on 1. how large your current heatsinks are. I had one of the Papsts on a small (50x50x25mm) heatsink before, and it was much hotter than now (impos...

2x 366@523 (95 Mhz FSB)
Exact Specs in Signature. CPUs get a little hot (54°C) now in July, due to the Fans running at 7V, I think. PSU Fan also @7V. Won´t run completely stable @550, regardless of the voltage used (tried 1,9 to 2,3 V). Though one of the Celerons ran @600 in another (single CPU) board! Now they seem to be ...

How to configure MBM5?
Hi everyone, how do I configure Motherboard Monitor 5 for the BP6? I´d rather have CPu temperatures around -48° C, like MBM5 claims, but I seriously doubt that it´s true ;) BP6FSB seems to work- it says ~54° C for the CPUs. (But 127,5 °C for the system- mhhhh... it´s hot in here- but _that_ hot?!?) ...
