1) Mendocino cores ran up to 533 mhz 2) 1300mhz celerons are Tulatin-based 3) Every celeron after the 533 mendocinos will not run SMP, period 4) Tulatins are FCPGA2, not PPGA 5) You can run one with an FCPGA2->PPGA adaptor, at best 6) Last I heard none of those adaptors work with bp6s, but this may ...

Don't change the MPS version on windows, it doesn't like that at all. Either change it back or reinstall. Outside of that, never had any USB issues with mine. Did have some power issues, but those were solved with EC10 surgery. The HPT controller is crap, learned that early, so I only used the regul...

Resistance increases as temp rises, yes. As for the location of the 3rd sensor, it's somewhere between the AGP slot and processor sockets. It doesn't look like the other probes... hell, it was 2 years ago when I looked for it and found it. Have you tried holding insert on boot or clearing the bios? ...

Trusted computing is a joke. One of the profs here is doing a large amount of research in that realm and they've been stumped for years. There really aren't any good ways of establishing trust without trusted third parties holding all the keys... and then someone out there has access to your data. I...

I would seriously avoid SB Lives. A very small group of people got them to work, but by and large they don't play nice with SMP boards. The only time I got mine to work in the bp6 was in slot4 using FreeBSD 4.4. It never took in Win32. Anyway, I'd start by replacing the fried caps and other items, t...

You can get away with running the bp6 on far less than a 300w PSU. I've even run it with a CD, DVD, CDRW, and a couple 10k rpm SCSI drives with a 220w supply. The only difference is in quality, the higher quality PSUs being the ones that can keep the 5 & 12v rails stable under high load. Anyway, you...

Hmm.. I'm beginning to think there is something up with the IDE controllers on the bp6 (HPT & Intel BX). Hacked my board for dual 850s a long time ago and it was always a bit unstable. Added a bit more solder to the bigger EC10 I added, in addition to a socket wire that had come loose and things got...

If you disable ACPI in the bios and windows NTx is expecting it, windows will no longer boot - it will just sit there and reboot shortly after getting to the 256 color boot screen and continue infinitely. Hence the proper way of disabling or enabling ACPI is to leave the bios settings untouched and ...

I think there were a few coppermine FCPGA cA0 chips that didn't want to work dual... but those were like < 600mhz parts. Everything else in the coppermine line works fine. Tualatin P3s with the 512k cache will also run SMP, but not on the vp6 (again, voltage and pin issues). And, if anyone cares, P4...

The celerons do not have a set limit. What they do have is a design that is only capable of going so far before the speed is too high for some component to function properly. Accross a range of chips, in fact the entire set of cores, these limits tend to fall within a few % of one another. Hence whe...
