Hi Ryan, First of all, dont panic! secondly, dont attack your BP6 with a heavy object because its being a pain! We've all been there. Is the freezing random? What IDE controler is your hard drive on? Try using 1 stick of memory, mixing memory speeds and CL's can cause problems. Try runing with minim...

Are you overclocking? Try turning off "speed error" in the bios.

Might be worth putting a request on the main BP6 page. There are probably people using the forum who have never bothered with SETI :!: Are there any inactive SETI members who have recently posted on the forum :?:

Thought these might help. I've been using 2 Akasa 80mm speed adjustable fans with metal Akasa 60-80mm Fan adapters on my GlobalWin Copper heatsinks. I choose the metal version because they can be bent/modded to fit. The Golden Orbs are round so you might need to be creative in making them fit! http:...

Thats right InactiveX, you can get away with a passive heatsink. Its a shame Via didn't build SMP into the core of these chips.

Congratulations, you appear to be the first BP6 user to try one of the VIA chips. There is no Bios support for these chips, so it’s amazing you got it to run at all!

Stand by for loads of questions!

DD this needs more investigation, this chip is no P3 but it does run very cold!

Back to the future

Those mad old silver surfers over at BP6.com have done it again! Daredevil, now 104 years old, along with the few remaining old guard have managed to mod the classic BP6 to run dual Intel P51 “Mustang” 5 THz (terahertz) processors These classic BP6 boards now bare no resemblance to the 1998 original...

Do you want the bad news or the bad news! Celeron 1000's dont SMP, so you can only use 1. You will also need a NEO adaptor to get this chip to work on the BP6. If you had bought 2xPentium 3's then you would of had more options. Still, look on the bright side, a 1GHz celeron upgrade for a 3 year old ...

Very hot water. As hot as you can stand, so it brings tears to your eyes. The pimple should be nicely developed by the morning and ready for the final expulsion, using some long nose(pardon the pun) pliers.........

There's no support for via chips on the BP6. I think its a bios/voltage issue and they don't smp.
