Well, I pulled the mobo and checked around the base of all the caps and found no leakage. Everything looked fine. It's a V1.0 board with an EC10 cap that's black and smaller than the ones nearby it. Does the way in which it died (rebooted "less and less each time") seem to indicate capacitor failur...

LinkSys WMP11 B

I installed a LinkSys WMP11 (802.11b) into PCI slot 2. It is running properly in Win2KPro with WEP enabled. It killed the SCSI drives (controller showed up during startup but no SCSI devices) when it was in PCI slot 4. I have an Adaptec SCSI controller in PCI slot 5. I tested it with a LinkSysWPC11 ...

Agreed.

3D Studio had the greatest performance gains but the software developers for this product have been optimising for dual processors since the mid-90's.

Too bad Tom's didn't do any Linux-related tests.

Welcome to BP6.Com, _65536_kb_sec_ ! ... if you go to the device manager and manually change the computer device type from MPS to ACPI, I think you will need to re-install over the top the OS to change a few things, as well. I know you need to do that for something, think it is this... Yes, this is...

When I worked at Autodesk out in California, all the Solaris boxen were named. We had one group that were named after the monsters from Godzilla movies. godzilla, megalon, mothra, zero, etc. :D

This is where I was first exposed to *nix (AIX, Ultrix, SunOS/Solaris, Irix, HP-UX, VAX/VMS). 8)

Try installing with the hard drive connected to IDE1 (or 2) and then moving the hard drive over to IDE3.

Correction. System locks up with two sessions of SETI running. Otherwise, it runs fine at 110Mhz FSB.

Back on-line!

604Mhz @ 110Mhz! Running two sessions of SETI, of course!

Very Important Note!

Make sure you enable ACPI in the BIOS, first.

Went into Mandrake 10.1 @ 66Mhz (366Mhz) FSB, first. Reporting from Win2kPro SP4.

Got mine, today! BP6-OK V1.1 010012232-084X BP6-TJG009853 (old one was: BP6-TJH001391) All the capacitors look like the same ones you'd see on any other BP6. Black 1000 µF and green 1500 µF capacitors. They are all Tayeh brand. Same brand on another BP6 I have with green "bulgy" ones on it. There is...

That should work. Have you tried Slot 4 or 5? I have used these slots without any problems. If I have my SCSI card in one of these slots, the other is not used (ie., SCSI in 5 and nothing in 4 or visa-versa).

Looks like most of the large black capacitors are bulging. You can see the brownish-red electrolytic oozing from some of them. At least two the large green capacitors are bulging. Look at the two smaller coils. The windings are almost black. Has been very HOT! Did you ever monitor your system temper...
