if you're good with soldering then I say, do it (that's what I did with my abit board and they took it back and gave me a new one)
but if you're not so good then I would just return it and keep looking
or you can call up ATI and ask them what to do, they might be able to do an RMA with it

Plugging the 12V through a regulator to output 5v shouldn't put that much of a load because conversion of 12v to 5v should be at about 85% efficency with a switching regulator. so say a 10A draw off of the 5v line would only be a 4-5A on the 12v with the loss for efficency factored in. (note: linear...

WD40 is a great water displacer, it's similar to kerosene and with some light hydrocarbon oil mixed in. it's pretty bad at lubercating because after the kerosene evaporates, you're left with a thin film of lube that will wear down pretty quickly. What you might want to do is after you flooded those ...

it's do-able, problem is the heat generated by all the chips involved with generating the bus signal and the supporting chips all need to be cooled to below room temp, and a prayer to your favorite deity doesn't hurt. and using P3 with all those adaptors will allow for too much signal degradation, I...

zalmans are ok, I think they just rebadge some other brand's PSU

well time to start poking around in there I guess.
What you can also do is take the 12v line and plug that through a heavy duty 5v regulator and BAM! you got your own stable 5v without messing up your powersupply's warenty

get a high quality power supply, if find the traces for the 5v line in your Power supply, it's generally hooked to a pot, you can tweak that up just a little, and also remember to put a load on it before tweaking or else it'll start to fluxuate like mad
