Dead & don't know what to do

No, I haven't gone potty over the loss of my venerable BP6 (I have had it over 5 years), but it does seem to have died a funny death. It's been a while before it went but I thought i'd post a quick Q before the gf forces me to get rid of it. One day I went to boot it up & got no video, swapped the c...

An easy way to make Mandrake (at least 9.0 anyway) shut down is to put append="apm=power-off" in the options line of the lilo.conf entry for the SMP image. Works for me. :)

Truly independent multiple desktops

Does anyone know of any program that allows you to have multiple truly independent desktops in 2kpro. By independent I mean that you are able to change the actual layout of the desktop (the icons showing & their position, the background, etc..) I'm just wondering because there a set of program's I u...

Like it! It's a good improvement & must've taken a lot of work. I like the close integration of the message board with the rest of the site. With the old style I tended to head straight on over to the forum skipping the front page as there was rarely anything there that wasn't mentioned on the forum...

Just downloaded the file, got an average of 46KB/s using opera's built in file downloader and that's on a 512KB/s cable connection over in the UK on my BP6 that's running Gnucleus for file sharing & downloading one or two things (slowly  ) When I get a shot I'll give it a run & see what happen...

What! So you wouldn't be happy with 49ºC CPU1, 52ºC CPU2 & 51ºC system. Don't know whats wrong with you mutter, mutter, grumble :D

It's not been that hot for a while but I've only just clocked them 433's to 533 again so I think I'm going to have to take a little cooling adventure. :)

So it doesn't bend right anymore but tell us, has it improved its stability, perhaps reduced its operating temperature. Will you put a howto up on the web to show us how to tweak too?

Clicking this means you get an email everytime a new post is submitted on this topic. So, clicking to no longer watch a topic will just mean that you won't recieve emails anymore. Click...

PC133 will run fine along side PC100 ram as the rating just tells you the max frequency the RAM is supposed (i.e. tested & certified) to work at. As you are unlikely to be getting the ole BP6 much near let alone the 100MHz mark you are well within the safe operating boundaries of the chips. From wha...

That would appear to make sense as if you're telling the OS that there's another CPU it will try & designate some work to that CPU, Only to find that there's nothing there & then have to do it on the original chip.

Well I got it installed without too many problems. It wouldn't work in Pci slot 4 because it was having a bit of a tiff with the SBLive in PCI 5. Moved it to the empty 3 slot & everything appears to be hunky dory. Comparisons of scores show a 50% increase in sequential read & write functions but onl...

I gotta ATA100 raid card

Ooo, ooo. I've not installed it yet but I saw it in Maplins for 20 quid so thought I might give it a go especially considering Maplins generous unwanted item return guarentee (though I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be excluded). It's not a promise so I expect to be shouted at by RRLedfor...

In 2K when you open task manager and go to the performance tab, if you go to the "view" menu & then the "CPU History" option it opens & gives you the choice whether to have 1 for both CPU's or 1 each.

It won't work because the 566 celerons are celeron II's, or of the FPPGA form factor (original cele's are PPGA type), the difference is basically one of pin layout being slightly different. The Neo is a socket that goes inbetween the chip and the mobo socket to reroute the pins. Not sure if powerlea...

You're PCI bus in particular you want to be as close as possible to 33MHz else you could have problems with some of your cards.
