The ASUS dual xenon board comes closest to your term "modern" (USB 2.0, DDR memory etc.) . They also have a dedicated site like the BP6.COM site. I got one of the MSI-9105 Dual P3 boards for $140 with integrated LAN + Promise RAID ATA100 just before they all disappeared. No USB 2.0 with it though. W...

Well I returned the ATI9700 A-I-W card, and good thing too. When I got a replacement ATI9800PRO A-I-W card I could not get it to load its advanced DX9 drivers to save my life. Thought I had a basic incompatibility with my ACORP Dual P3 board. Still haven't solved this one, except I know that a FX520...

Help ATI9800 A-I-W in Acorp Dual-P3 - drivers will not load

I own (2) Acorp 6A815EPD Dual P3 boards that replaced failed BP6's. Recently wanted to upgrade video from GF2-MX400 level to GF-FX 5700+ or ATI-9700+ on both. This has turned into VIDEO UPGRADE HELL! I was getting deals from NewEgg on their "refurbished" vid cards. First effort was an $140 FX5700Ult...

If you suspect that your hubs & 100Mbps NICs are a choke point on LAN data transfers, you need to eliminate all hubs in favor of switched LAN. If you are buying a new switch - go with a gigabit ethernet unit. Linksys has an 8-port for about $125. Put a GBE NIC in your file server for about $25 onlin...

Got a wide-screen HP on a spur of the moment purchase at Costco. It was a -$300 deal from a return and at $1399 could not resist? Had it for 9 months now & very pleased overall. runs a bit hot & sucks a LOT of power - melted the cigarette adapter plug in my van on a summer trip.

Month afer month they allow their bogus and flawed S/W to be the only install option available, pass...

InactiveX, If you can't adjust the Slot/FSB clock ratio & it only changes from 1/2 to 1/3 at 92MHz, then all my cards would have to handle 33-45MHz as I went up from 66-90MHz this is too much to expect from most cards. I do belive the divider can be manually set, at least in the mid range speeds of ...

I have a PayPay Acct of necessity for E-Bay & I hate them. Never link your PayPal account to a Bank Acct unless you keep a small balance. Way better to link with credit card so that you can reverse a payment! I had an E_Bay scam artist list a Pentium-III 1100/256K & I paid $100. He shipped me a $40 ...

Billl, my posts have little to do with promoting.
If you understood their intent, you would realize that helping people avoid the many kicks in the balls that the HPT366 has delivered to me personally, is why I post here.

Remember to increase the slot speed divider as he CPU clock goes up past the mid-80MHz range. The lower 1/2 divider leaves your cards clocking into the 40+Mhz range & they start to crash your system. Switch to the 1/3 divider setting for stability of cards.

Help on dead ATI A-I-W 9700 Pro

I recently scanned the NewEgg referb section and found an ATI 9700Pro all-in-Wonder 128MB card for $200. To good to be true, since I had just returned an Nvidia 5700Ultra card which would not load the drivers -ANY Drivers! It would only function in generic VGA mode with no accelleration. After hours...

Focus on the custom Front-Side Bus speed settings- 80-110MHz.
You need to set the BIOS to User Defined FSB & IGNORE ERRORS
Locked-by-Intel Multiplier is irrelevant
Voltage boost may be needed to reach higher OC levels.

The Promise ATA-100/133 can be found for ~$20.
If your time has any value - 200GB of crashed drive can represent a lot of time ==> money.
So do yourself a big favor & get a Promise card!

To what controller is the drive connected - NOT the HPT366 I hope! If you plan to use the drive as it was engineered to work, purchase a Promise ATA-133 PCI card. You really only need a hacksaw, file, and maybe a drill. You can make your copper plate/block, & file it smooth. Then get some square or rectangular (cross section) copper tubing. This can be bent to a pattern & silver soldered to the block. Fill tube with sand to prevent collapsing on sharp bends. ...

I use a carpet knife or utility cutter wuth a tough blade. Don't force it in too far or you can cut a pin. After it goes in a little, just tilt/pry it to open the gap. After the gap opens, fine someting thicker to use to pry it open further. Work your way around evenly & it will gradually come free.

RAID0 has much less overhead moving data on/off the drives, since it does not have the parity calculations that are needed for the redundancy of the RAID5, 3-drive scheme. Raw throughput is often 2-3 times faster.

I have a S150-TX4 four-channel 32-bit PCI SATA Promise card in my new Dell 600SC server ($329 with 128M/20G on sale). With its cache memory and RAID capability I can tell you that it is a total overmatch to the BP6's slow bus speed. In fact, a PCI bus running at 133MHz is even a choke point for thes...

The 725's have the better wide clip I believe.
With the weight, the wide clip is important, as the pull on the socket proturson can easily shear it off with only the single grip point.
