You are right, setting "Speed Error Hold" to Disabled solved my "problem"... Thanks!

Shame on me, I should have read this forum and ask Google - it is common "problem" to many Abit & SoftMenu users

Permanent SoftMenu settings?

Hi, I wonder if it is possible to make Soft Menu settings permanent? As with "standard" BIOS they seem to vanish after hard reset, and they return to "CPU Default". This is somewhat inconvenient to get into BIOS and set all these options again and again on every power on... Maybe it is not a problem...

Oh, this soft requires X as I understand - and I don't have X on my systems (yet) :) I used x86info software instead - it is somewhat old, but works OK. Both my BP6s run at stable frequencies after OC - 2x466->2x550 (FSB 85) and 2x400->2x550 (FSB 92) - no "floating" freqs, either in idle state or un...

Glad to hear that it worked at last :) I tried to compile my code on Slack 10.1 and it compiled without messing with header files. Strange, and definitely it need some further testing. I tried to overclock my home BP6 (with 2 Celli 433s), it ran stable at FSB 85 MHz, giving CPU clock at 550 MHz. How...

Hmm, all 3 of them seem to be related to kernel, and we must use one NOT coming from kernel tree (it is made to work in kernel "context" only, not in userspace progs - it is one of differences between 2.4 and 2.6 kernels)... In fact, the correct one is from 'lm_sensors' package. When you install lm_...

purrkur,
there is subtle difference between '#include <i2c-dev.h>' and '#include "i2c-dev.h" ' - first looks for file in standard "include files place" (e.g. /usr/include) and second looks for file in current directory. That's why it does not work, I think. Try to correct it and we'll see :)

Well, first bug discovered  It seems that it is related to lack of definitions of some constants. These should be defined in 'linux/i2c-dev.h' include file (in fact, they are defined in 'linux/i2c.h', included from 'linux/i2c-dev.h'). As I2C support is built-in in 2.6 series kernel, maybe thes...

BP6FSB ported to Linux

Hi All, I've been searching for some BP6FSB alternative for Linux, with no luck. So, I wrote this simple program - it allows reprogramming clock generator chip from Linux, thus allowing changing FSB on the fly. It is console-only version for now, and works with BP6 only. Requires 'lm_sensors' packag...

I cut the lever just before first bend, leaving only straight part. It locks properly, only it is somewhat hard to lift - I must use small screwdriver to unlock and lift it. Anyway, I will not do that every day  I was afraid that - while bending lever to flatten it - I can damage the socket. I...

enigma_edi, As for my BP6, it was not possible to properly fit these heatsinks without trimmig ZIF socket lever and bending caps. purrkur 's BP6 had ZIFs with plastic levers (board rev 1.1?), they do not stick over surface of socket. And he also mentioned bending caps to fit HSs. However, I think it...

I'm running 2 Cellis at 433MHz. Not planning OC right now, but in future - who knows...
As of the fans - they are not too loud (I expected them to be louder) and I want to remove them as well. Hope that passive cooling will work at last...

Well, I've considered replacing that burned coil. But I don't have any spare part, even don't know exact value of inductance... Of course, I could try to rewind this coil with new wire, but I'm afraid that if I touch the core of this coil, it will turn into dust  - it was overheating for a lon...

Hi All, I was looking for some good heatsinks&fans for my new BP6. I saw purrkur 's post about using Spire WhisperRock IV HSF with BP6. He stated that they (almost  ) fit, and - as they are cheap and available - I bought pair of them. First attepmt to fit them on my board failed. Although heat...

Another BP6 recapped - short report

Hi All! I've recently purchased my first BP6 board - it was described by seller as "rock solid, 100% OK". Unfortunately, first look at board's components revealed the truth: some of caps were bulging, and two of them showed signs of leaking as well: http://lyssy.webpark.pl/bp6/bcap1-s.jpg http://lys...
