I finally got a chance to double-check and yes, I set the boot sequence to "A,C,Ext" and the other option to UDMA66, not SCSI. I still get a message asking for a boot disk. Seems odd because on the other BP6 system I have with 2 533 Celerons, I'm pretty sure it's set to EXT and SCSI and it runs ok. ...

It runs fine under Windows and Linux with all the hardware recognized using the ata 33 settings. When I change the bios settings and the cable to ata66, it refuses to recognize the hard drive (asks for a boot disk). All of the caps on the board look fine.

No, I used bp6rv128.bin. But to tell the truth, since this computer was idle for a while, I can't remember if I ever had ata66 going with the 1.4 celeron.
Has anyone that's done this change gotten ata66 going?

ATA66 not working with 1.4Cel/S370/LinLin and RV

After having bios problems I ended up stripping my 1.4 Cel/s370/linlin setup down and building it back up including drivers, etc. While I was at it, I installed the RV bios. It seems to work well with this setup. At bios settings of 100 (1/3) and 2/3 the processor is id'ed as running at 1400mhz inst...

The faq on vp6-board.com agrees with nailz:

Q: Whats the fastest cpu that will run on the VP6?
A: The fastest PIII that will run on the VP6 is the 1.1Ghz (100fsb) FCPGA (non-Tualutian) cpu or the 1.0Ghz (133 fsb) cpu.

No, I used the same configuration you described - Neo S370 with a Lin-Lin adapter. If Powerleap would sell the S370 without the fan it would bring the price down - I used the Globalwin fan I already had. What did you do for cooling?

I have gotten the 1.4 Ghz celeron to work fine in the first of two BP6 machines but want to solve one problem before doing the second. The globalwin cpu fan will not come on despite my having added an extension wire to the thermistor normally just under the cpu and relocating it to between the Lin-L...

Linux benchmark

When you boot the system try to note the "bogomips" value that appears to use as a rough comparison between this setup and and the dual celeron systems. Both my systems with celerons runing over 500 Mhz show a little over 2000 bogomips. I'd be curious how much of an increase running one 1.4 Mhz Tual...
