It's too bad we have to deal with another product war.
Sure it's cool that we've got massive density optical discs, but I think it's unfair to the consumers to be forced to buy both or make a choice.

Vista looks promising, but like many others I won't be making the switch for a long time. Unless, of course, I buy a new PC that comes with it. Windows XP suits all my needs at present. I still think it's strange that they offer so many different versions of it. At least it's not the 17+ from a year...

Couldn't you make partitions on the drive?
I've heard if a single drive can't be used to its full size you can just add partitions to use the full drive.
I haven't experimented with that, but I think one of my friends had issues with drives being too big and got them working using partitions.

WOW. That's big. And notice it's only talking about microdrives in MP3 players... Imagine regular desktop harddrives. (Unless that's already been done or something). One thing that bothers me though: Why do people need that much space on a portable media device? Although I don't listen to and collec...

Sadly i never got video of it. That craft met its demise one day after school when I foolishly took it down a hil and it hit a curb and blew apart. I made a better one a while ago that could climb hills and go incredibly fast, but I again, foolishly ruined it by forgetting to cover a few soldered bi...

I figured this would be a good place to seek info on the card. Thanks for the information. Now i just have to find some sort of driver and see if I can get it to do something. Oddly enough, the CD Drive in the PC was a 1999 40x drive, so I guess the original drive had been removed but the card had s...

Anyone know what this old expansion card is?

It seems to be a CD-audio board, but it has no obvious labels or discerning features. Windows doesn't detect anything related to it. I figure there's a really simple program that controls the drive directly off the board. If anyone recognizes it or has any information, let me know. It's not a terrib...

Yay! I made my very own hard drive sound system like the one from Afrotech! However, mine has lights and is more fun to watch. It could be called a 2.1 stereo setup because i've got a western digital drive in the center making low noise, a gutted WD with no platter that makes fun jigglings and norma...

It's too bad such great things get phased out. Even though the BP6 has pretty much expired, its still one of the first dual CPU mobos and was great fun to play with.

I'm pretty sure the audio output has to do with the magnetism in the speaker device. I tried using a small lightbulb in my audio experiment and it didn't work. Even if it did make noise I couldn't hear it. So it looks like you'll need some magnets for an incandescent buld to make sound. Regardless, ...

Brilliant! That is exactly my point!
Also you can use LEDs. Their low power needs make plain sound output light them up. It can make for freaky displays!

The strangest thing ever.

Although this has little to do with a bp6 or computers at all, it's worth looking at. I am amazed googling for it doesn't bring up anything. I've been working on my hovercrafts again, trying to build a small one. So far it's going well, i've got a 12 inch wide styrofoam circle hovering properly so a...

Why are my files disappearing?

I've noticed this on both my BP6 and P3; however, my p3 is having more trouble. Once upon i time i had to use System Restore for some reaseon, and after using a restore point a week earlier, i had lost all the recent files in My Documents that i had put there after the restore point! I figure with t...

I just found out there's an nVIDIA FX 5200 for a few bucks more so i'm going for it. I found spec sheets for all those cards that say 4X will work.
Yay I'm gonna have good graphics (well, better)!

Will a gigabyte Radeon 9250 work with agp 4x?

I think the answer is yes. Having checked the ATI website they say the 92xx line of cards are AGP 4/8x, but the Gigabyte website says nothing other than AGP 8x support. I presume it will work (in an AGP 4x system) but i need somebody else's opinion. Otherwise I'm gonna buy a Sapphire Radeon 9200SE f...

It sounds like you were having some PCI rescource sharing issues. PCI slots 4-5 (closest to ISA) share the same bus master signal, slot 3 shares an IRQ with the HT366, and it seems AGP and PCI 1 or 2 (i forget which) share something as well. I'm guessing you had your new SATA card in PCI 1 or 2 whic...

Zalman chipset cooler: Worth a try?

I've found a fairly cheap chipset cooler by Zalman which i'm thinking might work better than a butchered CPU heatsink for cooling the BX. Here's the info: Zalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Chipset Heatsink Kit 1. ZM-NB47J does not require a fan, and thus does not need to be powered and does not create noi...
