I have one of those infamous ECS mobo's. Its never given me a bit of trouble. I upgraded the bios till they stopped issuing updates. We still use it. When I bought the system with the mobo I was told it was expandable.....lying salesmen are no suprise....but since there are no K3 500's rushing to be...

dual 500 mendicino's

Well that explains why my dual 500 mendicino's don't like anything over 75. I had it to 78, but Win Xp said it was recovering from serious errors quite often, and 533 mhz oc just doesn't seem like any real value. So, to hell with clocking it up. I'll add more memory & run Xandros Linux on it fulltim...

Bp6

Well I recapped the BP6, and loaded Xandros Linux OCE ver 3.0 onto it. I'm still short of memory but I must say, XPeee is a slug and Xandros flies!! Still got to find and IRC client I like & a messenger clone. But I'm thinking she's ready to come to my desktop once I add another 128megs into the mix...

Have you tried shuffling the conflicting cards into other slots? NICs in particular are known not to like sharing resources. Yeah one of the first things I tried, I even moved the sound card as well, still the promise card took over and the nic wouldn't work or if it did it disappeared even without...

caps

Well did a partial recap on the obvious bad caps, voltages & temps are very stable now. But 75mhz on the FSB is about all it will handle and even at that XP says it has to recover from a fatal error once in awhile, so effectively 71.99 mhz is it, not even worth the time to run it up. But now I need ...

free caps

I emailed jackson and they mailed me back asking for a cap list. I got it off here including the ec10 mod I think it is and sent it back. Today my caps came in the mail for free. Just mention that you saw they were replacing the caps free here on www.bp6.com, give them your mailing list & the cap li...

Well I'm running four atm now. Including the BP 6 I just got.But it really needs more memory a decent sound card and a faster nic. Tuff scrounging up stuff when your north of the 58th parallel.

Anyone got any idea if these will work on the BP6? They're not expensive and if they'd work it would make a super upgrade to any BP6 mobo!

Bp6

Well as luck would have it some sniping scum got my BP6 mobo (the one with 300 & 400mhz cpu's) just minutes before the end of the auction, and as luck would have it I won a BP6 with 2 500mhz cpu's on it instead :) plus a promise ata 66 ide card (3 bucks), two brand new cpu heat sinks & fans (.99 cen...

ata66/100 cards are easy to find computer markets, online stores just don't pay tooo much yeah I found a promise card, with a little luck I'll have it (you know how auctions go). It is an ata 66, which should be enough for what I'll be doing. And btw does the ata 33 on the mobo work or is it not wo...

so if I read this right I can modestly overclock the 400's to 450 or 500, add a cpu fan to the bx chip to keep it cool and best to add a ide controller card, that seems the only stickler finding a card. No doubt I'll be back asking 10 million question once I have the board in my hands. But thanks so...

old posts

Well, these old post are interesting, but not very helpful, I've no desire to wade through huge volumes of spam looking for a little info. I'm about to win a BP6 on ebay. While I am getting it to play with till I fix my P4, which tossed its chips, I only want to do the simplest updates, its coming w...
