| Shane - Hi - many thanks for this: fixes [apart from everything else] an infuriating cold-boot problem w/ QQ/RU. As I've commented elsewhere, the RV without HPT BIOS [file as uploaded on the 3rd Jan 04] doesn't flash; but this version here, given a quick going over w/ CBROM to release the HPT, works fine & helps extend the working life of this delightful motherboard. |

could this new BIOS also fix the "error loading operating system" problem with installing XP?.
I used XP on my BP6 from the beginning without any problems and suddenly two weeks ago my system crashed and rebooted into XP with that message while my Linux installations still worked, on the same disk!!
Regards,

this bios fixes usb issues for me, but other than that there are no apperent improvements in speed or stability compared with the RU bios.
but the logo rocks |

after change bios (from ru 2 rv) system (winXP SP1) don't start. ups, but it's not strange. "a major correction of the ACPI table" is a reason, i think. after change for backup version nothing happens. system crash anyway )). windows sux! reinstall solve problem. bios work perfect . |

So, does "updated microcode" mean that any Pentium 3 socket 370 chip can be used with this board now and in pairs?

| I just flashed my BP6 (dual 466s) with this RV BIOS and sometimes it boots with a date of 12/16/2002 and other times with 01/01/2004. Sometimes it displays "2 processors" and other times it doesn't. Sometimes it displays "Mendicino" next to Celeron and other times it doesn't. Is it supposed to do this? Cool logo, though. |

|

Just flashed to rv w/128 and it seems to work ok with a single celery (pulled both to prep for a neo w/866 PIII) but I can't seem to post with neo and PIII in socket 1 or 2.
I welcome a pointer to a related article as I can't seem to find one to detail what the jumpers should be set at on my second hand neo s370 adapter:

On first boot I got the same as chapmanfever (01/01/2004), and on reboot 12/16/2002

I have two standard Celeron 500's, and had to set SOFTMENU to allow it to boot. |

| I was concerned that installing this BIOS would mess up my WinXP SP1 system. But I needn't have been worried - it works fine! Good work. |

I know the post was from a while back, but what exactly did it fix for you? I haven't used USB on my BP6 for some time now and would be interested to know. |

Seems very stable. Great way to update the HPT bios, and give the BP6 a little custom spice
Much thanks goes out to the author. |

Would this allow for some 100mhz Celeron/P3s to be used..
Namely dual P3 600's, or Dual 1200Mhz Tuallies ? |

| I just noticed that my computer does not display the 2 processors all the time on the boot screen. Seem mostly when the computer is restarted. On cold boot... I always have the 2 processors displayed. Although when the 2 processors is not displayed.. i always have both working within windows. |

I have also confirmed the 2 processor not detected upon restart during non cold boot situations too...
However, I discovered if upon non cold reboot if you enter your bios settings and then exit without saving - it does detect 2 processors upon restarting out of the bios settings.
I would consider this a minor glitch, otherwise this rv bios rocks and has extended the life of this mobo. |

Thanks for Your great work.
Just one little thing is annoying me at the moment:
This starting flash picture is very, very ugly. No, not what You maybe think now: I'm a linux user/lover since about 5 years now.
But could the flash pic be replaced by another one?
AFAIK all seems to work fine with my SuSE Linux 9.0. I just activated ACPI (in LiLo) and there are no problems till now (I had to deactivate it before in order to work correctly with kernel 2.4).
Now I will test the kernel 2.6 with SuSE Linux 9.2.
Let's see.

I've installed this bios on my pc (dual celeron 500 mhz, 66 mhz fsb), now what processors I can use? 2 Pentium3 ?? They will work together ?Because my celerons work only at this frequency, I can't overclock !!!

PIIIs won't work in the board unless you've modded it.
You need to either modify the sockets or get the Neo 370S adaptors (which still require some modifications). You probably want to fix Q6 and EC10, and then you still need this BIOS so the PIIIs get the latest microcode (they'll run without the BIOS, but the microcode patch helps).
